Jung Joon Young and the men who spread illegal pictures around like a joke. !

JJY was booked by Gangdong Police Station in Seoul on charges of violating Article 14 of the Special Act on the Punishment of Sexual Violence. JJY is suspected to have illegally taken pictures/filming women, including girlfriends, acquaintances, and even unspecified passers-by, and carrying a large number of photographs that have enlarged certain parts of women's bodies. In particular, JJY reportedly secretly posted on a Facebook page in December last year saying, " -girlfriend's name- pictures to see." This is a situation in which one can be seen as sharing illegal pictures with acquaintances. Police are currently investigating his mobile phone through digital forensics and other methods.

In December last year, a private high school in Seoul also raised the issue of illegal shooting. Suspicions have been raised that a high school freshman illegally filmed female students at the same school. According to Hankyoreh's report, the concerned explained the allegations, "I didn't take them directly, but I just bragged to my friends as if I had taken illegal pictures wandering around the Internet." Whether it was taken or not, we can see that illegal filming is becoming a "proud bragging trend" among teenagers, whether taken directly or not. The school is currently undergoing procedures such as the School Violence Countermeasure Committee.

As the police booked singer JJY, who took illegal photos of at least 10 women and distributed them to group chats, on charges of violating the Special Act on Punishment of Sexual Violence (such as Using Cameras), some experts point out that sharing illegal photos is not just a problem with celebrities but a common culture for men targeting women. In other words, the culture that considers women as objects and solidifies the alliance of men in the process of sharing them is the root cause of illegal filming and distribution.

In fact, SBS KakaoTalk conversations shows that the sharing of illegal photos was done routinely between JJY and his fellow entertainers. According to reports, they bragged about sexual relations several times, and each time other participants in the conversation asked for video footage. In late 2015, when JJY bragged about having sex with a woman in a conversation with his friend Kim, an acquaintance asks, "Is there any video?" In response, JJY uploaded a 3-second video clip of a sexual relationship with a woman. At the same time, JJY frequently posted photos of women who fell asleep in group chat rooms and boasted about them. In the group chat room where JJY participated, illegal pictures taken by ordinary acquaintances were also posted.

Things like the chats that JJY participated in are happening every day. On November 18 last year, 13 men were arrested because a "girlfriend certification relay" was held on the Internet site Ilbe." At that time, some members of Ilbe took pictures of naked women, sleeping bodies, and sex scenes, and posted postings entitled "I Certify My Girlfriend" Eventually, the Cyber Security Division of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency launched an investigation, and 13 people,  were indicted on charges of violating the Special Law on Punishing Sexual Violence. Among the 13 people arrested at that time, the number of those in their 20s was eight, followed by four in their 30s and one in their 40s. They are known to have stated in police investigations that they committed the crime "to get attention" or "to raise their rank on the site". Six of them actually posted pictures of their girlfriends while the other seven were found to have re-distributed pictures from the internet.

"Though sharing of illegal images may be centered around young generations who are familiar with Internet technology, it is not a matter of generation but of male solidarity in terms of sexually targeting women." said an activist from the Women's Consultation Team at the Korean Sexual Violence Counseling Center. "It should serve as an opportunity to reflect on the entire wrong culture in which women have so far been targeted and used for men to be recognized for their masculinity."
